Lubbock Concrete Sidewalks & Walkways

A Lubbock walkway has to lie flat and stay flat over expansive clay that lifts it, on ground level enough that water sits wherever nobody sent it somewhere. We replace heaved walks and pour new paths with the base, the steel, and the grade handled together, not just fresh concrete over the same old problem.

How we build it right

The process behind concrete sidewalks & walkways built to last

Credibility comes from how it's built, not from promises. Here's the order of operations on every concrete sidewalks & walkways job.

01

Trace the failure to its cause

Before we quote, we work out whether a walk failed from clay heave, a thin base, winter scaling, or plain age, because each one changes the fix. Guessing at the cause is how a repair comes right back in two seasons.

02

Remove and resolve, not just repour

Failed panels come out, and the base or drainage problem underneath gets handled while it is open. Pouring a fresh panel over unprepared clay is a short-lived patch, and we do not sell those.

03

Base and alignment

A crushed-caliche base over conditioned clay, grades set for drainage, and the cross-slope kept walkable, which matters more than it sounds for strollers, wheelchairs, and an evening walk around the block.

04

Steel, joints, and a winter-ready mix

On longer runs and over the shrink-swell clay we add rebar to hold the path together, saw the joints on a plan so movement has a place to land, and place an air-entrained mix so the freeze-thaw does not scale the surface off.

05

Grade for flat ground, brush for grip

On land this level we set the pitch deliberately so rain clears the path toward a swale or the street rather than ponding and feeding the clay, then finish with a broom texture that holds a foot when the walk turns wet or iced.

Why Lucky's

The one you don't have to worry about

01

We answer, and we come back

Most contractors vanish after the deposit. We pick up the phone, show up when we say, and stand behind the work after the truck leaves. The follow-through is the difference.

02

Managed crews, our name on it

A foreman we know runs your job and a vetted crew does the work, managed by Lucky's, one company accountable from the first call to the final walkthrough.

03

Fully insured, paperwork-ready

COI and lien waivers on file before we break ground. The documentation that lets commercial clients pay and gives homeowners peace of mind.

04

Built right, not cheap

Prepped subgrade, reinforced and mixed to spec for the job, and proper curing. We build credibility through the process, not promises. On concrete sidewalks & walkways, that starts with trace the failure to its cause.

Standing policy

Flat, drained, and built to stay put

Every walk we pour in Lubbock gets a caliche base over conditioned clay, rebar where the run needs it, joints on a plan, an air-entrained mix for the winters, and a deliberate pitch worked out for ground flat enough to pond. A path that heaves at every joint a year later was a base and drainage job someone shortcut, and that is the exact part we refuse to shortcut.

FAQ

Lubbock concrete sidewalks & walkways, answered

What does a new walkway cost in Lubbock?

Walkways on the South Plains typically open around $8 to $13 a square foot, depending on length, width, access, and how much base and caliche work the run involves. Every quote follows a site visit; we do not hand out phone numbers we cannot stand behind once we have seen the ground.

Can you fix a trip hazard instead of replacing the whole walk?

Often, yes. A single panel that the clay or a tree root has lifted can frequently be ground flush or pulled and reset on its own. We trace what pushed it up first, then recommend the fix that fits rather than selling the whole run by default.

Why has my sidewalk lifted at the joints?

Expansive clay swelling and shrinking through each wet-then-dry stretch shoves the panels out of line, and any nearby tree roots pile onto it. On the repair we redo the base and re-lay the joints so the same lift does not return a season later.

Do you build ADA ramps?

Yes, to current standards: slopes, landings, and detectable warning surfaces, finished with a slip-aware texture. Much of that work is commercial, but we also build residential accessibility ramps where a front entry needs one.

The public sidewalk out front is broken. Whose job is it?

Who owns the repair on public sidewalk in Lubbock comes down to the city's program at the time, and those programs change, so the first move is to ask the city. When it does fall to you, we pour to the city specification so the work clears inspection on the first pass.

How disruptive is replacement?

A typical residential walk is out and repoured within a day or two, with a marked path kept around the work. Panels take foot traffic after about 48 hours, longer through a cold snap, and we never leave an open excavation overnight without barricades.
